Faith Sauber, UCF’s first-ever EuroScholar prepares for trip to Switzerland

Faith Sauber, a ’21 biomedical sciences alumna, worked alongside many esteemed UCF professors to conduct undergraduate research. Dr. Mary Jean Amon, Dr. Gregory Welch, and instructor Nicole Verity were helpful throughout her time as an undergraduate, Sauber said.

Sauber, 19, now prepares to leave for Europe to research at the University of Geneva in Switzerland as UCF’s first EuroScholar on Feb. 14. Sauber graduated from UCF in fall 2021 with a bachelor’s degree in biomedical sciences.

The EuroScholars program is a unique study abroad program catered to undergraduate students looking for international research experience, according to the EuroScholars website.

Dr. Gregory Welch, UCF pegasus professor and AdventHealth endowed chair in health care simulation, worked alongside Sauber through three semesters at UCF to complete her honors undergraduate thesis. Welch said his advice for students interested in research is to approach the situation with an open mind and consider new perspectives.
