Dr. Walters is a Research Associate with the Institute for Simulation and Training and the Department of History. Her research interest within the lab is Virtual Heritage – a multi-disciplinary approach to examining the past utilizing the latest digital technology to disseminate information. Shadows of Canaveral, a virtual return to the launch complexes that lined the shores of Cape Canaveral in the 1950s/1960s, began the Virtual Heritage effort. Her current research project is Come Back to the Fair – Interconnections: Revisiting the Future. Funded by both the National Endowment for the Humanities and the National Science Foundation – this project utilizes the 1964/65 New York World’s Fair as a backdrop for STEM (science, technology, engineering & mathematics) education. She is also developing a Virtual Heritage project centered on the First World War for the centennial anniversary of the conflict.

Not that it has anything to do with Virtual Heritage – but she really knows her 1950s/1960s television programs too.
